Feeding Guide
Koi feeding should always be based on water temperature and digestibility. Bluetoon Aquatics Feed is nutrient‑dense, meaning koi require smaller portions than lighter, filler‑based feeds. Use the table below to determine the correct feed type and portion level throughout the year. Feed 0.5% - 1.0% of your fishes combined bodyweight.
Below 12°C
Below 12°C 32% Wheatgerm
very light feeding 2–3 times per week, only feed if koi are active, stop feeding completely below 8°C
Koi can not safely digest high‑protein marine feeds below 12°C.
12°C - 15°C
0.3% - 0.5%
12–15°C Light Feeding (47% allowed)
Use 47% but lightly, Once daily, very small portions Increase gradually as temperature rises
Digestive enzymes begin to reactivate, but koi are not yet ready for full protein loads.
15°C - 18°C
0.5% - 0.7%
15–18°C Moderate Feeding Use 47%
1–2 feeds per day, moderate portions.
Koi metabolism is stable, making this the ideal range for rebuilding body mass after winter.
18°C - 24°C
0.8% - 1.0% (24°+ 1% split into 3 feeds)
18–24°C Full Feeding, Use 47%
2 feeds per day, normal portions.
This is the koi’s natural growth zone. Protein, oils and nutrient density are fully utilised.
